Frequently Asked Questions
How long do botanical perfumes last on the skin?
Wearing a pure botanical perfume is a personal, intimate experience between the wearer and the scent. Unlike synthetic perfumes which can overpower those around the wearer and are engineered to remain a static cloying scent. Natural perfumes wear close to skin, are ephemeral, dynamic and unfold over the course of wearing them. Most perfumes evolve for 2-4 hours on the skin. We suggest reapplying throughout the day.
How do I effectively use an herbal tincture?
Each specific tincture has suggested doses on the bottle. We recommend always taking a tincture in a small amount of water, juice or tea. The smallest effective dose will vary between individuals and their unique situation. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Just contact us with your question.
What is the shelf life of your products?
We recommend storing all our products in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight for longevity and potency. Tinctures which are formulated with organic alcohol can remain potent and effective for several years. Salves, which are formulated with herbal infused oils, beeswax, butters and essential oils can remain effective for up to two years if not exposed to water. Vitamin E and essential oils help reduce rancidity. Botanical perfumes will evolve over time and the scent may change, but they will not go bad or rancid.
Is there an advantage to using tinctures over other herbal remedies?
Tinctures are a convenient and concentrated form of herbal medicine. They are also more easily assimilated by the body than dried herbal capsules and tablets.
What type of alcohol is used to make tinctures?
Certified organic cane alcohol, which is medicinal grade and meets USP pharmaceutical standards.
Why are tinctures produced with alcohol?
Organic alcohol is a superior agent for extracting the widest array of active plant constituents into solution. Alcohol acts as a preservative, maintaining the integrity of the original fresh plant’s medicinal virtues and giving the extract a shelf life of five years or more.
